Listing details for 5312 Shoreview Ave, Minneapolis, MN 55417 : A midcentury gem, literally around the corner from Lake Nokomis on a special block of tucked away Shoreview Avenue. Stroll to the lake without having to cross a main artery! Walk, jog, cycle, sail, kayak, and behold dreamy sunsets from the east shore. Available for the first time in 50 years, this marvelous split-level home offers architectural cues of its era seldom available in South Minneapolis. The colorful windows surrounding the front door were created by the current owner, a stained-glass artist. Just inside, a staircase dressed with a beautiful wrought iron railing alongside a wall of wood will take you back to 1955. The living room is spacious and showcases a floor-to-ceiling brick fireplace. Follow a subtly curved wall into the formal dining room. Living and dining rooms have large windows overlooking the front and back yards respectively. The kitchen has been nicely updated with tons of light wood cabinets and offers an informal breakfast area. Upstairs are 3 bedrooms, the smallest of which is well-suited to serve as a den or office and has authentic paneled walls and very period, original wool carpeting! Updated full bathroom. The basement presents a quintessential 1950s recreation room with a second raised hearth fireplace and a course of original glass block windows. Oh what fun you'll have in this space! Laundry/hobby room. Lovely fenced backyard and garden has awesome trees and composite deck. Closets, cupboards and storage that just won't quit throughout the house and 2-car tuck under garage. Fairly new boiler and Rinnai tankless water heater. "MAC" improvements. Certainly a little love - primarily cosmetic - is needed here and there, and the rewards will be tremendous!
