Listing details for 1224 3rd Ave S, Stillwater, MN 55082 : ** Buyer backed out for personal reasons not due to inspection or appraisal. ** Here is your opportunity to own one of Stillwater’s most endearing historic homes on the South Hill with bonus views of the St. Croix River from the front and back/south lawns! Known as “Grandma Bean’s Playhouse” by family members, it was originally built by a prominent lumberman, Jacob Bean. With its mansard roof and dormer windows it is an enchanting example of the French Second Empire Style, and most certainly embodies a playhouse. Lovely updates by a previous owner brought the home up to modern standards and even brought in light fixtures and woodwork, where it needed replacement, from the old Whitney Hotel. In the company of million + homes, this beauty is a treasure trove of charm and history in an A+ location.
